Dr. Chris Visser is a Board Certified Veterinary Dental Specialist. His practice includes the full range of dentistry and oral surgery including endodontics, periodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, maxillofacial trauma and oral cancer surgery. Dr. Visser is one of the very few veterinarians in the country to pass the rigorous examination to become a board-certified veterinary dentist. He has authored numerous articles and lectures at many national and international veterinary dental meetings. Dr. Visser received the prestigious Fellow of the Year Award from the International Academy of Veterinary Dentistry in 2011.
Dr. Visser is dedicated to providing quality education to veterinarians. He has been the Moderator for the Arizona Academy of Veterinary Medicine Continuing Education Seminars for the past several years. He also serves as an Examiner for the European Veterinary Dental College. In 2013 he was inducted into the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association Hall of Fame.
Dr. Visser grew up in South Africa and received his veterinary degree from the University of Pretoria. His veterinary practice in South Africa included small and large domestic animals in addition to some African wildlife. After moving to Arizona, Dr. Visser continued his interest in wildlife through volunteering his services to the Phoenix Zoo where he has performed over 300 dental and oral surgery procedures on zoo animals during the past twenty-five years. He is Chairman of the Animal Welfare Sub-Committee at the zoo.
